What Are The Common Materials Used For Plastic Bowls?

Common materials for plastic bowls include PP, PS, and PET.

1. PP (Polypropylene)
Plastic bowls made of PP are heat-resistant, antimicrobial, wear-resistant, durable (resistant to deformation), and reusable. They are free from harmful substances, making them a relatively healthy and eco-friendly choice. Many disposable plastic tableware items used in fast-food restaurants today are made from PP.

2. PS (Polystyrene)
PS plastic bowls are relatively thin and inexpensive, typically used for disposable tableware. While they have a smooth surface, their heat resistance is poor; they tend to deform when exposed to high temperatures or substances like grease. Additionally, PS bowls are not wear-resistant and should be discarded after a single use.

3. PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate)
PET plastic bowls offer high transparency and excellent visibility. This material is heat-resistant, wear-resistant, and impermeable to air and water. However, it is relatively expensive and generally not used for disposable tableware. While PET bowls are reusable, they require periodic replacement because the plastic can age and potentially release harmful substances over time.

4. Other Materials
In addition to the three common materials mentioned above (PP, PS, and PET), plastic bowls are also made from materials such as PC, ABS, and PA. Each of these materials has unique characteristics; for instance, PC bowls offer excellent transparency and heat resistance but require careful handling to avoid impact damage.
